Thank you for your friendship, thank you for your trust, and thank you for supporting and being part of my campaign for Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder — and OUR campaign to build a more people-centered Clerk-Recorder office.

My entire career, I’ve been fighting for working people — protecting our right to be treated with dignity and respect. Our primary campaign for Clerk-Recorder was no different.

When I announced my run for Clerk-Recorder earlier this year, I said it was time to chart a new course for Contra Costa County — time to make sure our county government works for ALL Contra Costa residents, not just the super wealthy and elite.

The results of this election are certainly not what we had hoped. But I will continue fighting. Fighting for the people of Pinole and our community. Fighting to protect our democracy. Fighting to combat our climate crisis. Fighting to make sure the voices of our essential workers are heard and acknowledged. Fighting to make sure everyone can participate in our government.

Thank you for standing up to build a more inclusive democracy. Across the nation, Clerk-Recorder offices are being infiltrated by election deniers and those who simply want to deny access to the ballot box. In Contra Costa County, we must continue to raise our voices and ensure the security and integrity of our elections remain intact.

Here is where things stand on our race as of 5:00pm on Friday, June 10th:

• Approximately 145,000 votes have been counted for the Clerk-Recorder race
• I am in third place with an approximate 3,000 vote margin between me and Vicki Gordon, who is in second place
• There are still over 69,000 votes left to be counted before the results are certified and official on July 7th

My passion for public service is greater than ever –- and I’m exploring many new and exciting opportunities to make a difference. I will continue to work to keep the government working, honest, and effective during the remainder of my term as Mayor Pro Tempore of the city of Pinole.

All in all, throughout this path, I remain truly grateful to have you by my side. No one person can make change alone, so we must keep pushing forward — together.
